“To Your Eternity” episode 15 is out! Fushi is reunited with Parona, sort of. We also discover a bit more about Tonari. However, it’s still difficult to like her with her mysterious and manipulative personality. The episode is titled, “ A Girl Named Tonari.”
“To Your Eternity” episode 15 begins with Fushi feeling more lost than ever. It’s painful to watch him struggle in finding his purpose. To make matters worse, The Beholder confirms that Parona is indeed, dead. (Oh the suffering!)
Honestly, It’s really hard to watch Fushi hurt, especially since he now remembers Parona. I agree that Parona’s combat skills are a plus for Fushi, but this is just too painful and confusing for him.
Tonari tries to talk to Fushi, but he still doesn’t trust her. (Well, she’s the reason Pioran is locked up after all!) She’s always cheerful and it feels so wrong. She also tells Fushi how some people deserve to die, just like the killers in the arena. She’s really smug, but Tonari also tries to apologize with a pained expression. You can’t blame Fushi for feeling annoyed with her.
I honestly still can’t like her with her attitude like this. She’s so weird! Anyway, she’ll investigate the mysterious person who told her to bring them to the island. I have a feeling this has something to do with that crazy woman…
Later in the night, Fushi-Mole succeeds in digging to the other side. I’m so glad to hear that Pioran is alright! However, Pioran tells him to leave the island and continue his journey without her. To honor Parona’s death, Fushi should do what Parona would have wanted to do— help the weak.
“To Your Eternity” episode 15 continues with Fushi’s third battle in the arena. Fushi wins by default (the audience injures his opponent) and the people get mad over Fushi’s disrespect of “not killing” in the arena. Tonari gets hit which was somewhat satisfying to watch. However, Knocker-Oniguma suddenly appears! Honestly, the enemy’s impaling attacks don’t look so gruesome to me anymore at Jananda Island.
Tonari and her friends, including the angry crowd earlier, defeat the Knocker as Fushi-Parona leads an attack with arrows. (Unlimited ammo!) We at least discovered that Tonari was useful in battle. I don’t like Tonari yet but I do like her friends, particularly the dart girl and chair girl. Very interesting choice of weapons!
The sun beautifully sets, and Fushi regains memories of March, Oniguma, and Gugu. It’s a very simple but emotional moment. Fushi feels guilty (again) for having everyone fight for him, but Tonari says that to change fate, you need to work with others. “To Your Eternity” episode 15 comes to an end as Fushi genuinely thanks her.
Honestly, this episode has me feeling lost just as much as Fushi does. Can you believe that we’re just five episodes away from the end of the show? There’s been so much pain and not much good yet. The Beholder said that “pain is important for growth” and it’s true. Overcoming pain makes you strong. I wish Fushi (and all of us) can get through this, and that it’ll get better from here on out for him.
I also really appreciate Pioran, the grandma who has been there for Fushi way back in episode 5. When Fushi said she was family, it made me emotional. It’s also nice to know there are some decent people in the arena like Fushi’s third opponent who just wanted to save his younger brother.
Jananda Island Arc no doubt highlights Fushi’s internal conflict. He’s caught in the middle of wanting to be human and having to fulfill his immortal purpose. The fact that he promises to value Parona’s wish no matter what is another big step forward in his journey. Living an immortal life is a life of pain and loneliness, but that’s what makes Fushi so special. He’s a good person with a good heart. Now, he keeps and carries the wishes of the people he loves —the Nameless Boy, March, Gugu, and Parona. Oh, my emotions.
I certainly feel that in the episodes to come, Fushi will find a way to manage the darker side of reality. Of course, Tonari and her friends will be with him. Can they be trusted? Hopefully, we will see their backstories in the next episode!
“To Your Eternity” episode 16 is titled “The Children’s Dreams” and will air on Monday, August 2 at 10:50 PM (JST). It will be available to watch on Crunchyroll in select regions. In addition, it is also available to watch for free on Ani-One Asia YouTube Channel.
