Trigun Stampede has revealed the third concept art by Koji Tajima, the series’ original character designer. Two illustrations by Tajima had previously been released: first in June when the new Trigun adaptation was announced, and second this August.
The new anime revealed its first trailer during the franchise’s Anime Expo panel “Lock ‘n Load Panel!!” CGI studio Orange is animating the series, with Kenji Muto as the director. Previously-announced cast members include Yoshitsugu Matsuok as Vash, Tomoyo Kurosawa as Young Vash, Junya Ikeda as Knives Millions, Yumiri Hanamori as Young Knives, and Maaya Sakamoto as Rem Saverem. The anime will premiere in 2023.
Trigun Stampede is based on a manga series by Yasuhiro Nightow, which was serialized on the Monthly Shonen Captain from April 1995 to January 1997, and then moved to Young King OURs, where it stayed from October 1997 to March 2007. It then received an anime adaptation from Madhouse that is composed of twenty-six episodes. It aired from April to September 1998. It also received an anime film adaptation titled Trigun: Badlands Rumble in 2010.
Dark Horse has licensed the manga in English, describing the plot as:
On the forbidding desert world of Gunsmoke, a mysterious bounty hangs above the head of Vash the Stampede, and the gunslinging pacifist can’t seem to find a moment’s respite. Vash is no ordinary pistolero, packing a weapon capable of punching holes in a planet, which explains why the locals tremble at the very mention of his name. But sixty billion double dollars is no ordinary reward, and every trigger-happy psycho in creation is aiming to claim Vash dead or alive—preferably dead!
