Vinland Saga was one of the best anime shows of 2019, and we might finally be getting some news for the sequel soon. The latest tease comes from the character designer/animation director of the first season, Takahiro Abiru. He tweeted that he’s currently involved with Attack on Titan, as well as The Ancient Magus’ Bride with studio KAFKA, but that he also has to do “the most important work of all” and “I plow fields again today”. You can check out the original tweet:
“Have continued to involve in the production of “Attack on Titan.” And I will also participate in “The Ancient Magus Bride” as one of the Studio KAFKA staff. But there is another work that I have to do the most. My most important work, you know. I plow fields again today.”
There aren’t really many options he could be talking about. Askeladd is on his profile picture while Thorfinn is on the cover, and the next arc will feature a farm in a pretty big way. To remember, the director Shuuhei Yabuta previously posted a cryptic teaser which teased a season 2.
This was back in September 2020, and the Easter egg he left were the runes on each illustration which said “Season 2” when transliterated into English. He also left a translation of the rest of the text in a self-reply. It goes:
Thorfinn: “How long must we wait?”
Askeladd: “That’s why I hate kids…”
Canute: “It’s soon…, I guess…”
The signs are pretty obvious. Although there are still no official confirmation, Vinland Saga will likely be getting a sequel/season 2 anime announcement in the near future.
