The Bone Eater’s Well is a very important place for Inuyasha and Kagome. In the InuYasha series, the Modern era and the Feudal era were connected through that well, allowing Kagome to travel. The same goes for Inuyasha. However, the portal inside the well vanished after their final battle against Naraku in InuYasha: The Final Act series. Inuyasha and Kagome were separated and thought that they couldn’t see each other anymore, but after three years, the portal opened for the last time because of Kagome’s feelings. Inuyasha knew Kagome’s scent very well, so the moment she entered the well, Inuyasha came to get her. The Bone Eater’s Well, along with the Tree of Ages witnessed the whole love story of Inuyasha and Kagome. In episode 41 of the Yashahime series, Kagome, Moroha and Inuyasha spent some time in the well and Moroha learned how important that place is to her parents.
Even though the portal in the Bone Eater’s Well cannot open again, it is good to see that it is still being emphasized in the series because it became the bridge to Inuyasha and Kagome. It is also satisfying to see that Moroha is learning about what happened in the lives of her parents in the past.
That aside, while in the middle of having a family moment, Kirinmaru landed in front of them, looking haggard and exhausted. Inuyasha is ready to do everything he can to stop him, so he stands in Kirinmaru’s way. As I mentioned in my previous episode feature, I think that Inuyasha is stronger than Sesshomaru because he is wielding the Tessaaiga, the strongest demon sword in existence. Inuyasha, together with Kagome and Moroha faces Kirinmaru in battle. As usual, Kagome’s sacred powers are incredibly powerful since she is the reincarnation of Kikyo, a legendary priestess, who is also the ex-girlfriend of Inuyasha. As for Moroha, she trained so hard, and recently, she received a gift that makes her stronger. Her powers are also out of the box since she is the daughter of Inuyasha and Kagome. That means she has both demonic and sacred powers. In the battle, Inuyasha used the Bakuryuha, Kaze no Kizu, and Kongosoha from the Tessaiga, making this very nostalgic for the fans of the original series.
There was something that bothered me in this episode. The Tessaiga has six demonic powers, making it the strongest demon sword. Inuyasha used three since those are really for combat. The remaining three powers are the Red Tessaiga, which is not applicable in this battle since it is only for destroying barriers. The other one is the Dragon-Scaled Tessaiga, which can absorb demonic energy. The last one is the Meido Zanetsuha, which instantly transports anyone who touches it to the Underworld. It also means that it is the strongest power of the Tessaiga but Inuyasha didn’t use it. I can’t help but think that this battle was really made like this so that Kirinmaru won’t die yet since the anime is still far from the ending.
Since the situation with Kirinmaru is already getting out of hand, the Demon Slayers are also on the move and preparing to evacuate the people. Sango also fetched Miroku and we were able to see their “Painful Slap” again, which is also very nostalgic. In the InuYasha series, if Inuyasha and Kagome have “Sit Boy”, Sango and Miroku have “Painful Slap”. It seems that the couple will also participate in the battle against Kirinmaru and by the looks of it, both of them are stronger than they were in the InuYasha series. Miroku previously revealed that he was training in the mountains because he suddenly encountered a very strong demon, which he can’t defeat. In this episode, he revealed that the demon he wants to defeat is Kirinmaru. In the InuYasha series, Miroku has the power of Kazaana, which makes him very strong. It is a tunnel attached to his hand that can suck all things even humans and demons. However, when the time comes, he will eventually be sucked into the tunnel, leading to his death. It was a curse that was placed by Naraku in their lineage. The Kazaana disappeared when they defeated Naraku. However, it also means that Miroku lost a great amount of power. That might be one of the reasons why he trained so hard in the Yashahime series, to obtain a new power that can rival Kirinmaru.
Going back to Inuyasha and Kagome, they used Shippo to go back to Kaede’s village to tell the people to evacuate. At the same time, it looks like a crisis is about to befall the Modern era in the next episode of the show. Are we finally going to see the full reunion of the original team Inuyasha? If you are also curious, stay tuned in the anime. Episode 42 will air on February 5, 2022, and you can watch it on Funimation.
