The Akuma-kun anime is releasing on November 9 this year on Netflix globally, as announced earlier with a new visual and trailer. Toei Animation and Encourage Films are animating the series.
Hiro Shimono is joining the cast as Strofire. Other cast members include Ryoko Shiraishi as Sanae Kazama, Yumiri Hanamori as Mio Kazama, Fairouz Ai as Gremory, Yukiyo Fujii as Hina Asanagi, Toshio Furukawa as Mephisto III, Yuuki Kaji as Ichiro Umoregi, Yuuko Mita as Shingo Umoregi, and Toshio Furukawa as Mephisto II.
Junichi Sato will serve as the chief director for Akuma-kun anime and Fumitoshi Oizaki as the director. Hiroshi Oonagi is doing the series composition, and Daichi Nagatomi is a producer. No synopsis about the anime has been released as of this writing.
The new Akuma-kun anime is based on a manga series by Shigeru Mizuki. There are three versions of the manga, published in 1963, 1966, and 1970 respectively. The series previously received a live-action adaptation that aired from 1966 to 1967 and an anime adaptation that aired from April 1989 to March 1990. Two movies spawned from the anime TV series: Akuma-kun: The Movie released in 1989 and Akuma-kun: Yōkoso Akuma Land e!! released in 1990.
