Attack on Titan The Final Season Episode 16 Ends Part 1 and Hypes Fans for Part 2

“Attack on Titan The Final Season” concluded today with episode 16, and what a point to end at! It’s an understatement that MAPPA didn’t have an easy schedule, but they managed to deliver and now have us all already hyped for Winter 2022. With Zeke surviving the thunder spear, he got saved by a random titan while Levi didn’t even get shown. His promise still hasn’t been fulfilled, but he can’t have gotten unscathed from that explosion. Hange might find him soon, though we won’t be seeing that until next year. On the other side, we saw the rest of the Corps locked up. They talk about Eren and Jean thinks Eren must have a reason to act like this, unlike Connie.

Although they don’t get to discuss it as Yelena arrives. We get to see how badass she is again when Frietz starts badmouthing Sasha. Niccolo gets really mad, but then Yelena headshots him and apologizes for his rudeness. As they try to process it, she starts explaining how they intend to save everyone with the Euthanasia plan. On Eren’s side, he gives Pieck a chance to prove she’s really a traitor and she tells him they need to go to the roof. He handcuffed her to Gabi and headed up, but he was ready to transform at any time. When they got to the roof, Yelena reassured him not to trust her, and he asked where the enemies were.

As she pointed to him, Galliard appeared from below and bit off Eren’s lower body. That was obviously not enough, as he then transformed and was ready for the fight. Just then, Reiner and Magath appear in blimps, and Eren is ready for another rematch. Of course, that’s also when we get the “To Be Continued..”

With the release of episode 16, Attack on Titan: The Final Season has concluded. You can watch all the episodes on Funimation or Crunchyroll. This ending means that the confirmed Part 2 will pick off with big action right off the bat, and Winter 2022 can’t come any sooner. The official Twitter shared a commemorative illustration for the final episode. Drawn by Kaori Kishi, who participated in the animation production.

MAPPA also released a key frame of Eren’s Attack Titan:

The full synopsis of “Attack on Titan”:

Over a century ago, mankind was devoured by giant beings of unknown intelligence and origin known as Titans. Creatures that eat humans alive indiscriminately and for no apparent reason. The remaining population has managed to survive the last hundred years only by building a multi-walled city capable of keeping the Titans at bay, training military recruits to patrol the perimeter and gather intelligence about their mysterious foe. Eren and Mikasa have lived a relatively peaceful life behind the city’s walls. But when a massive Titan appears, smashing the outer barrier and unleashing a wave of terror, their lives are brutally changed forever…
