Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King Now Streaming on Netflix

Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King is now officially out: the movie is streaming on Netflix worldwide and will also have a screening run in Japanese theatres. The plot is a side story that introduces some of the previous Wizard Kings of the Clover Kingdom. Check out the first four minutes of the movie in a preview that was released yesterday:

Studio Pierrot animated the Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King movie, which premiered on June 16. The initial release date was set for March 31 but the movie was delayed. Netflix will be streaming Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King worldwide and Japanese fans will get to see it in theatres.

Ayataka Tanemura directed, with Itsuko Takeda on the character designs. Minako Seki composed the music. Johnny Onda, who wrote the Black Clover: Yuno no Sho light novel was one of the scriptwriters, and the original mangaka, Yuki Tabata supervised the production.

Black Clover is based on a manga by Yuki Tabata. It started serialization in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump in 2015 and currently has 33 volumes out. An anime by studio Pierrot aired from 2017 to 2021 and ended after 170 episodes. Viz Media licensed the manga in English and describes the plot as:
Young Asta was born with no magic ability in a world where magic is everything. In order to prove his strength and keep a promise with his friend, Asta dreams of becoming the greatest mage in the land, the Wizard King!
