Jinpachi Ego, the young yet ambitious and ruthless coach from the Blue Lock series, goes all out in a new ad for the instant noodle brand Nissin UFO. The 90-second ad features scenes from the anime where Ego shows his passion for the sport.
Moreover, the ad also pays a quirky tribute to Jinpachi Ego’s preference in eating yakisoba noodles almost all the time, which is driven by Ego’s passion to devote most of his time to train and monitor the players, resulting in less time to prepare food for himself.
The Blue Lock ad is the newest Nissin anime collaboration, who previously collaborated with Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and released a branded visual featuring Lucy and David eating noodles. Moreover, the popular instant noodle brand released a number of anime-themed commercials in the past few months. Most recently, a commercial featuring voice actors Inori Minase and Nobunaga Shimazaki was released to promote its Donbei noodle lineup. Other animated commercials for Nissin Donbei included characters voiced by Kensho Ono and Saori Hayami and Kikunosuke Toya and An Ogawa.
Blue Lock recently ended its first season in March this year, with a second season being confirmed immediately after. In addition to the second season, a movie focusing on Nagi Seishiro’s point of view in the BLUE LOCK project has been announced. It will adapt the spin-off manga of the same name, which has art by Kota Sannomiya.
Studio 8bit animated the Blue Lock anime series, and the main cast of Blue Lock anime included Soma Saito (Hyoma Chigiri), Kazuki Ura (Yoichi Isagi), Yuki Ono (Rensuke Kunigami), and Tasuku Kaito (Meguru Bachira).
The Blue Lock anime is based on a manga written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrated by Yusuke Nomura. Kodansha is publishing the manga in English and describes the plot as:
After a disastrous defeat at the 2018 World Cup, Japan’s team struggles to regroup. But what’s missing? An absolute Ace Striker, who can guide them to the win! The Football Association is hell-bent on creating a striker who hungers for goals and thirsts for victory, and who can be the decisive instrument in turning around a losing match … To do so, they’ve gathered 300 of Japan’s best and brightest youth players. Who will emerge to lead the team … and will they be able to out-muscle and out-ego everyone who stands in their way?
