Bocchi the Rock Manga Author Draws Maid Nijika for Anime's 11th Episode

Bocchi the Rock manga author Aki Hamaji posted on Wednesday an illustration of Nijika Ijichi to express gratitude for the anime’s episode 11, which aired last week. The anime is airing every Saturday in Japan, with studio CloverWorks animating. The manga creator previously drew hungry cat Ryo Yamada for the 10th episode.

The new illustration came with a caption as “Thank you for the 11th episode! The next episode will be the last one!😢.“ The visual features one of Kessoku Band members, Nijika Ijichi dressed in a maid costume carrying a plate of omurice in her left hand. Her line can be seen around her face as “Welcome~♡“. In the episode, the character ended up wearing the clothes to serve in the restaurant held by Hitori Goto’s class at the school’s culture festival. The author’s gratitude is written in the picture as well: “Thank you for Bocchi the Rock! Episode 11!

Aki Hamaji has been drawing the Bocchi the Rock 4-koma manga in Hobunsha’s monthly magazine Manga Time Kirara Max. The series released the fifth compiled volume on November 26, 2022. The anime has been airing since October 8.

Crunchyroll is streaming the anime this season and describes the plot as:
Hitori Gotoh, “Bocchi-chan,” is a girl who’s so introverted and shy around people that she’d always start her conversations with “Ah…” During her middle school years, she started playing the guitar, wanting to join a band because she thought it could be an opportunity for even someone shy like her to also shine. But because she had no friends, she ended up practicing guitar for six hours every day all by herself. After becoming a skilled guitar player, she uploaded videos of herself playing the guitar to the internet under the name “Guitar Hero” and fantasized about performing at her school’s cultural festival concert. But not only could she not find any bandmates, before she knew it, she was in high school and still wasn’t able to make a single friend! She was really close to becoming a shut-in, but one day, Nijika Ijichi, the drummer in Kessoku Band, reached out to her. And because of that, her everyday life started to change little by little…
