Bungo Stray Dogs: Storm Bringer Stage Play Announced

Bungo Stray Dogs is receiving another stage play adaptation titled, “Bungo Stray Dogs on Stage: Storm Bringer.The announcement was made on their official Twitter, also unveiling its first visuals and cast. Storm Bringer is based on Kafka Asagiri and Sango Harukawa’s light novel of the same name. The story follows right after the Arahabaki Incident, a direct continuation of its last stageplay titled, “Dazai, Chuuya, Fifteen Years Old” which ran last 2021.

Bungo Stray Dogs on Stage: Storm Bringer is scheduled to open on June 24 – 27, 2022 (Tokyo) and on July 2-3, 2022 (Osaka). The venues will be at the Nippon Seinenkan Hall and at the Higashi Osaka Cultural Center respectively.

Norihito Nakayashiki is the stage play’s director and scriptwriter. Additionally, Kafka Asagiri (author) and Sango Harukawa (illustrator) will be cooperating with the project. More photos and details of the stage play can be seen on their official announcement. Check the tweet below:

Along with the reveal of visuals, the main cast list was also unveiled on the website. Keisuke Ueda will reprise his role as Nakahara Chuya. The rest of the Bungo Stray Dogs on Stage: Storm Bringer cast can be seen below:

Storm Bringer is the eighth (English) light novel of the Bungo Stray Dogs series. The English version will be released on June 21, 2022. Yen Press describes the novel’s plot as:

It’s been roughly one year since Nakahara Chuya joined the Port Mafia, and he’s got his sights set on an executive position. But as he makes plans to move up, a man by the name of Paul Verlaine—claiming to be his younger brother—appears and vows to assassinate everyone he cares about! Now, Chuya must team up with Adam, a European A.I. investigator, to stop this lunatic before the storm swallows Yokohama once again…

Bungo Stray Dogs is a manga by Kafka Asagiri and Sango Harukawa. An anime adaptation by Studio Bones aired in 2016 and in 2019. It currently has three seasons, with a fourth on the way soon. There is also an animated movie adaptation, OVA, stage plays, and a live-action movie.
