Call of the Night's Akira Asai Gets Character Visual and Trailer

The Call of the Night anime revealed a character visual and trailer for Akira Asai, who will be voiced by Yumiri Hanamori in the upcoming adaptation. The anime begins airing in July 2022.

Akira Asai is a second-year junior high school student who lives in the same housing complex as Kou. She is his childhood friend. She tends to get up early, so she meets with Kou at night. She doesn’t trust vampires and doesn’t want anything to do with them.

The anime adaptation was announced in November 2021. Nazuna Nanakusa (voiced by Sora Amamiya) previously received her own trailer. Studio LIDENFILMS is animating the series and the staff includes:

  • Director: Tomoyuki Itamura
  • Character designer: Haruka Sagawa
  • Scriptwriter: Michiko Yokote
  • Chief animation director: Tetsuya Miyanishi
  • Theme song performer: CREEPY NUTS

The Call of the Night (Yofukashi no Uta) is originally a romance vampire manga by Kotoyama. The manga started serialization in Weekly Shonen Sunday in 2019. Viz Media licensed the manga in English and describes the plot as:
One night, sleepless Yamori slips out of his home to walk the streets of his town. Life after dark is a revelation! Especially when he meets flirtatious Nanakusa… She’s a lot more fun to share the night with than old drunks on park benches. When she invites him to spend the night at her place in an abandoned building, he’s stoked! But then he awakens to kisses on his neck with a little too much bite to them…
