Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card Anime Sequel Announced

The Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card anime is receiving a sequel, following the release of the manga’s 14th volume on March 31. No information about the staff and cast have been released as of this writing.

Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card is a shojo manga written and illustrated by the manga group Clamp. It began serialization in Kodansha’s Nakayoshi magazine in the July 2016 issue. Kodansha USA has licensed the manga in English, describing it as:

It is spring, with cherry trees in full blossom, and Sakura is just entering middle school. Her beloved Syaoran has returned from Hong Kong, and life couldn’t be better. But when she awakens from a strange dream to find her Sakura Cards powerless, how can she protect Tomoeda from disaster?!

The manga has a prequel original net animation by MADHOUSE (My Love Story With Yamada-Kun at Lvl999, Bibliophile Princess, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End) with direction from Morio Asaka that was released in 2017. It then got a TV anime adaptation by Madhouse which aired from January 7 to June 10, 2018.

Said manga is a sequel to the original Cardcaptor Sakura manga by Clamp. It was serialized in Kodansha’s Nakayoshi from May 1996 to June 2000. It then received a 70-episode anime adaptation by MADHOUSE, which aired from April 1998 to March 2000.
