The Castlevania: Nocturne animated series has revealed a new visual featuring Maria Renard and Richter Belmont ahead of its September 28 release on Netflix. Powerhouse Animation Studios is animating it, while Project 51 Productions is producing.
The new project was announced after the finale of the original series. It is a continuation of the original Netflix Castlevania series which focused on Trevor Belmont and Slucard, and ended in 2021 after four seasons. A trailer for the new series is also set to be released tomorrow. The voice cast includes:
The showrunner is Kevin Kolder, while Clive Bradley is listed as a creator and writer. The animated series is based on Konami’s Castlevania games, the first of which was published in 1986. Castlevania: Nocturne follows Richter, a descendant of the Belmont family. Netflix describes the story for Castlevania: Nocturne:
In the thick of the French Revolution, members of the so-called lower classes are rising up to fight inequality: “It’s the natural order for them to milk us dry with impossible rents and unpayable taxes,” Maria (Davies), a young leader, laments. Meanwhile, Richter Belmont (Bluemel) senses a far grimmer and greater danger. He’s picked up his family’s long-held tradition of vampire hunting, a vocation that goes back almost as long as a vampiric life span (in other words, forever). But he’s never seen anything quite like what he’s witnessing now — could the drastic uptick in vampire activity have something to do with the death of his mother? And what’s up with this rumored news of a supposed vampire messiah?
