As part of our continuing coverage of Cosplay Carnival 2022 in the Philippines, we are sharing the Cosplay photos we took throughout the weekend event.
As mentioned in our event report, most of the cosplayers are dressed up as characters from Genshin Impact. This is followed by cosplayers dressed up as characters from the critically-acclaimed Demon Slayer, last season’s My Dress-Up Darling, the ongoing SPY x FAMILY, and VTubers from big agencies such as Hololive and Nijisanji EN.
HoyoVerse’s action role-playing game Genshin Impact is still popular among cosplay fans in the country. There are so many Genshin Impact cosplays that a cosplay group photoshoot is organized at Cosplay Carnival’s satellite area at Function Room 5.
My Dress-Up Darling proved to be a hit series, and cosplay fans can relate to it. Aside from numerous cosplays of its main character Marin Kitagawa in her school uniform, there are also variations ranging from Shizuku-tan, Riz-Kyun, Black Lobelia. Even Juju-sama and Black Lily are present too!
The ongoing anime adaptation of SPY x FAMILY led an increase in the number of cosplays, especially those of Yor Forger in her assassin dress. Fan favorite Anya is not as well-represented as her adoptive mother.
Despite the multitudes of cosplays from the titles mentioned above, there is still a variety of cosplays from other series—My Hero Academia, Arknights, Evangelion, and even a few from Genius Prince, The IDOLM@STER Shiny Colors and Needy Streamer Overload.
This shows that as long as there’s characters to cosplay from, the community won’t stop dressing up.

The last part of this series of stories on Cosplay Carnival 2022 will be more on the VTuber side, so look forward to it.
