Crunchyroll has released an English-subtitled trailer for the anticipated Haikyu! The Dumpster Battle movie, set to premiere in North American theatres on May 31, 2024. Production I.G. is animating it under the direction of Susumu Mitsunaka. Crunchyroll describes the plot:
“Shoyo Hinata joins Karasuno High’s volleyball club to be like his idol, a former Karasuno player known as the “Little Giant.” But, Hinata soon finds that he must team up with his middle school nemesis, Tobio Kageyama. Their clashing styles turn into a surprising weapon, but can they beat their rival Nekoma High in the highly anticipated “Dumpster Battle,” the long-awaited ultimate showdown between two opposing underdog teams?“
Haikyu! The Dumpster Battle will have a runtime of 85 minutes. The movie’s theme song is “Orange” by SPYAIR, the same band that performed the anime’s first theme song. A visual was also released for the Haikyu!! movie premiere in North America:
The movie will also be opening in cinemas this May 2024 in Southeast Asia, including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, India, and the Philippines. Medialink also opened the movie in Hong Kong and Macau on April 11, and Taiwan on April 12. Meanwhile, Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment are handling its international release with dates from May to June.
Haikyu!! is a manga by Haruichi Furudate. It was serialized on the Weekly Shonen Jump from 2012 to 2020. Production I.G. has produced 4 seasons of its anime adaptation, including the first of the two-part finale movie, Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle, which premiered in Japan on February 16, 2024. The anime is available to stream on Crunchyroll.
