The date between Shido and Mukuro has begun in episode 7 of Date a Live IV. This is a bit nostalgic because, for the first time after Shido’s date with Tohka in episode 3 of season 1, Shido had a normal date. He and Mukuro did what a normal couple should do, like Shido’s first date with Tohka. Well, this part is a turning point for the series, since Mukuro is the 10th and final spirit that Shido is going to meet among the spirits that appeared on Earth aside from the “Spirit of Origin”. You can clearly view Shido and Mukuro’s date as a successful one because it was really smooth until the end.
However, it is also the start of a new crisis in Shido’s life. No one expected that Mukuro is the “yandere” type of person. For those who are not aware, a yandere is a type of character whose love and devotion are so intense and strong enough to do anything to get to the person they want, including using unreasonable means just to keep their loved ones for themselves. They typically show an act of possessiveness and obsession towards their type. In Mukuro’s case, she wants Shido to look at her alone. She doesn’t want Shido to take care of the other spirits. Mukuro sealed all of the memories in the world where Shido exists so that she is the only one Shido can approach.
Because of Mukuro’s actions, the “Inverse Tohka” was able to manifest in Tohka’s body because she lacks Shido’s memory. The “New Origami” also took the body of Origami to help them. Looking back, the “Inverse Tohka” last appeared in episode 10 of season 2 and nearly destroyed the Earth. Luckily, Shido was able to bring Tohka back, but the “Inverse Tohka” was humiliated. and tries to exact revenge. As for the “New Origami”, she was created when Shido changed the history in season 3. She is really a good person, and because of her, chaos between Mukuro and the “Inverse Tohka” was resolved. In exchange, the “Inverse Tohka” and Mukuro need to compete with each other for Shido’s feelings. The one who Shido is going to kiss first will be the winner. According to the “New Origami”, this is the best way for the “Inverse Tohka” to humiliate Shido. Well, this is also fine for Mukuro since this is a chance for her to truly get Shido’s affection.
The competition between Mukuro and the “Inverse Tohka” will be concluded in episode 8, which will air on May 27, 2022. The preview for the next episode also mentioned that the next one will be the conclusion of Mukuro’s arc. You can watch it on Crunchyroll.
