Date a Live anime series is receiving a season 5, as announced right after the broadcast of the Date a Live IV finale earlier today. The fifth season is continuing the tradition of using Roman numerals in the title since it is titled Date a Live V. The official Twitter account for the series tweeted stating they will reveal more information at 25:30 (1:30 am JST) in regards to the announcement made after the finale.
Jun Nakagawa directed the series, while studio GEEKTOYS animated it. The first season of the show was animated by studio AIC+ in 2013. Season 2 aired in 2014, by studio Production IMS, and the third season was animated by J.C. Staff in 2019. Keitaro Motonaga directed all of it. You can watch the entire series on Crunchyroll.
The ane is based on Koshi Tachibana’s Date a Live light novel series. Fujimi Shobo started publishing it in 2012, and it ended in 2020, with a total of 22 volumes. Yen Press licensed the original Date a Live light novel series in English and describes the plot as:
April 10. The first day of school. Shido Itsuka is rudely awoken by his personal alarm clock—his little sister. It’s shaping up to be another typical day…well, as typical as it gets on a planet plagued by massive spatial quakes. Little does Shido know, however, his life is about to take a sudden turn when he encounters the source of this destructive phenomenon—a girl his age, apparently known as a Spirit. Turns out, there are only two ways he can stop her from unleashing hell on the world: Eliminate her by force or placate her…by taking her out on a date and making her fall in love with him!
