Demon Slayer just announced Season 2, but the Infinity Train film is also still going strong, and it has now become the 2nd highest grossing anime film of all time, WORLDWIDE! It has earned around 41.5 billion yen (~$392.4 million USD) in 122 days since its release on October 16, 2020. With that feat, it overcame Makoto Shinkai’s famous “Your Name” (Kimi no Nawa), which sits around ~38.3-41.4 billion yen based on estimates that include the re-premieres from around the world.
Above it only remains “Spirited Away”, which it’s sure to overcome soon as well, maybe even next week. The film hasn’t hit the West yet, so we’re likely to be hearing about it even more before the TV anime season 2. As for the manga, it exceeded 150 million copies last week, which means over 30 million sold copies in ~2 months. Another shonen that’s selling a lot of manga recently is Jujutsu Kaisen, and more about that here.
