Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Releases Early 2024

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will release in early 2024 for PlayStation 5, Square Enix has announced during this year’s Summer Game Fest. The second part of the Final Fantasy VII Remake Trilogy, titled Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, also unveiled a brand-new trailer that shows Cloud Strife and his companions leaving Midgar and embarking on a journey across Gaia to pursue the swordsman Sephiroth.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is apparently so large a project that it will release on two Blu-Ray discs—an ironic nod to the original 1997 release of the game, which came on three discs for PlayStation 1.

Square Enix has described Final Fantasy VII Rebirth as:

It’s a completely standalone game that takes Cloud, Tifa, Barret and Aerith out of Midgar and into the wider world. The team embarks on a globe-spanning adventure in pursuit of Sephiroth – a vengeful swordsman long thought to be dead. You’ll also unravel a gripping story that’s rich with mysteries to uncover, and explore the personal journeys of many party members to discover more about their backgrounds and the events that forged them into the people they are today.

The first game in the trilogy of remakes, Final Fantasy VII Remake, was released on April 10, 2020, with an expanded story and added content to create an experience comparable to a normal standalone title. A PS5-enhanced version, titled Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, was released in June 2021, along with a special episode that followed Yuffie Kisaragi.
