Funimation has announced that Ranking of Kings (Ousama Ranking) anime will premiere exclusively on the platform on October 15. The anime from Aniplex will come to the platform subtitled and dubbed in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Chile and Peru, as well as in all of Wakanim’s territories throughout Europe. The anime is the next project from WIT Studio (after Vivy from last season!). Meanwhile, King Gnu performs the show’s opening theme “BOY”, and it now has an English-subbed trailer:
Yosuke Hatta (One Punch Man; Death Parade) directs the anime at WIT, while Atsuko Nozaki (Lupin the 3rd; Samurai Champloo; Attack on Titan) is in charge of the character design. The music is composed by MAYUKO (Cells at Work!). The key visual is available as well:

The story centers around Bojji, a deaf, powerless prince who cannot even wield a children’s sword, and so as the firstborn son, he strives hard and dreams of becoming the world’s greatest king. However, people mutter about him behind his back as “a good-for-nothing prince” and “no way he can be king.”
Bojji is able to make his first ever friend, “Kage” (shadow)—a literal shadow on the ground who somehow understands Bojji well. (Kage is a survivor of the Kage assassin clan that was all but wiped out. Since no longer a killer, Kage now makes ends meet by stealing.) The story follows Bojji’s coming-of-age as he meets various people in his life, starting with his fateful encounter with Kage.
