Gushing Over Magical Girls episode 8 is here, and it gave us an interesting scenario. Have you ever dreamed of world domination? Do you want to be the world’s next dictator and take over most of Europe? Well, luckily for you, the next few years may help you with that. But, of all the people who’d like to be at the top, Utena is not one of them. World domination just isn’t all that it’s meant to be. After all, it’s hard. The hours are long, there’s a lot of paperwork, and you can never sleep in. On the other hand, harassing magical girls takes little to no effort. Just Trans Magia yourself a block away from your house, and you’ll get swarmed by enough magical girls that you can assure yourself a lifetime of felony offenses.
Most of us would welcome displeasure into our souls if we had to go to work on a day off. So, imagine being pulled into work while being told to go in expecting a fight. There are three workplaces where you’d never want to hear that: law enforcement, any fast food job, or Enormita. So when Venalita summons the girls to Nacht Base because there are some people it would like them to meet, immediately, Utena knows that something is up. Once there, they come face-to-face with the OG Enormita Squad. One that has just come back from what appears to be a very successful magical girl hunt. As the two groups begin to mingle, we’re shown that even others in Enormita realize that Baiser has no interest in defeating magical girls. Instead, she’s content with accosting them.
Lord Enorme tells Venalita that its management skills leave much to be desired. They’re supposed to be taking over the world, not just playing bad touch on every street corner. It’s a statement that embarrasses Magia Baiser. But if the gloves fit, one must not acquit. Lord Enorme points out that they have enough power and that they’re already primed for world domination. Venalita, on the other hand, still thinks there’s much to be desired. Because of this, we get a #toptenanimebetrayals and the Lord Squad turns against Enormita. They do, however, offer the girls a place among their ranks. After all, what can be more fulfilling than world domination?
The fun thing about grand declarations like these is that the person making them always expects the other person to agree. They’re so sure of their position that they can’t even fathom someone declining. Magia Baiser lets her know that she would rather crap in her hands and clap than do that. This causes the group to ask why she’s even there in the first place, to which she replies that she was forced into the position. And because of this, a brawl ensues between our three protagonists (spelled antagonists) and Sister Gigant.
As the Enormita girls try to battle against Sister Gigant, for once, the fight doesn’t favor them. Be it because of the difference in strength, size, or combat experience, they are easily overwhelmed and placed in a boob squeeze. While many a man would sell their soul to die by asphyxiation in a giant’s bosom, that particular dream is lost on Baiser and Leoparde. So, what does one do when pinned down by a foe much more capable than oneself? Well, ALLAH AKBAR! Magia Baiser knows these tactics like the back of her hand, and because of this, the group can escape, but not without her incurring heavy injuries due to shielding Leoparded from the blast. As she regains consciousness, she laughs and rants about how she will make the Lord Squad fall. And in the process, new stars show up on her body.
As Utena recovers from her failed battle, she asks Venalita if her belief that she was aware that they were going to be betrayed was true. After all, there’s no reason to hide their real identities from their true comrades. Venalita lets her know that she’s spot on but that is far from the most pressing issue; Utena is incensed over learning that Enormita (or what was Enormita) hunts magical girls. That is an unforgivable affront while this exchange takes place. On the other side of town, Leoparde and Nero Alice are now fighting against Loco Musica. Here, it is revealed that the more star marks one has on their body, the stronger they are. Because of this, Loco Musica believes she can take down the Enormita girls without much of an issue and initially, she gets them to go on the defensive.
The bigger one’s ambitions, the bigger one’s reason for doing what they do. Loco Musica’s reason for helping to subjugate the world? Well, being the #1 pop idol, of course! But with a voice as soothing as a nail scraping against a chalkboard and a sense of rhythm that’s as pleasant as sandpaper toilet paper, we all know she can’t compare to the actual number-one idol in the universe. When this fact gets pointed out to her, Loco Musica goes on a rampage. Leoparde and Nero Alice use her freakout to mount an escape, causing Loco Musica to fail in her subjugation and receive a beating as punishment, and with that Gushing Over Magical Girls episode 8 ends.
The battle junkies who made it this far into the show are rejoicing right about now, as it seems that we’re going to be treated to proper fights in the future. After all, Magia Baiser and the other Enormita girls have people they actually consider dangerous enemies. While the animation dipped around episodes 5 and 6, it’s back to its original level this week. With the show so far along, introducing such a huge plot twist may throw off those concerned about second seasons. But if we’re moving towards an ever-expanding battle, that’s another reason to pick up the manga. It will be pretty exciting to see what Magia Baiser can do when she’s serious. Depending on how you want to count the stars on her body, she can match Lord Enorme’s strength or outright surpass it. Of course, battle experience comes in handy, and she’s at a disadvantage in that. But if there’s anything Baiser has shown, it’s adaptability.
