Inu-Oh Introduces World of Music and Friendship in New Trailer

The latest Masaaki Yuasa movie, Inu-Oh, revealed a new trailer. The movie premiered at the Venice International Film Festival in 2021, but a public theatrical release is set for May 28 of this year. Yuasa’s Science SARU studio is animating the movie, which is based on a novel by Hideo Furukawa.

In addition to Yusaka, who is directing, Akiko Nogi is also involved with the project, as the scriptwriter. Nobutake Itou did the character designs. Hideki Nakamura is the art director for the movie.

The story follows Inu-Oh, who is born with unique characteristics. The adults around him are horrified and try to hide him by making him cover up and wear a mask. But, one day he meets Tomona, a blind boy who is a talented biwa player. The two connect through music, and Inu-Oh discovers a talent of his own. Together they travel while trying to use music and dance to break the curse.

Queen Bee’s vocalist Avu-chan is voicing Inu-Oh, while Mirai Moriyama voices Tomona. Tasuku Emoto, Kenjiro Tsuda, and Yutaka Matsushige are also part of the cast.

Inu-Oh is Masaaki Yuasa’s first movie since 2019’s Ride Your Wave. The director is best known for his work on Tatami Galaxy, as well as movies The Night is Short, Walk On Girl, and Lu Over the Wall.
