Episode 42 of Jujutsu Kaisen premiered earlier today but it will stream in Japan with an 18-hour delay, on November 24 at 6 pm JST. The delay seems to be Japan only, as the episode is already out on Crunchyroll with English subtitles. This is the 18th episode of the second season of the anime.
Jujutsu Kaisen production schedule has been under criticism by animators working on the series, but it is unclear if this delay is a result of that. Earlier this year, Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead faced similar streaming delays, which affected overseas streaming, as well as the final four episodes that have been delayed to December.
Studio MAPPA is animating the anime that is currently covering the Shibuya Incident arc. The anime is based on a manga by Gege Akutami that is currently being serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. Viz Media is publishing it in English
In addition to the TV anime, the franchise also has a prequel movie, Jujutsu Kaisen 0, which was also animated by the same studio. The plot takes place after the Hidden Inventory/Premature Death arc but before the events of the first season.
