Komi Can't Communicate Episode 3 - Komi Makes New Friends

Episode 3 of Komi Can’t Communicate introduces some new characters and adds more to the dynamic of the main duo (and also Najimi). Komi still struggles with social anxiety but is slowly making progress., while Tadano is still kind of dense.

Making new friends may be hard for Komi but is also quite difficult for her classmates. Komi scares them when she glares and it takes them a while to warm up. This week’s friend is Himiko Agari, a girl who also has some kind of social anxiety. Himiko gets anxious when someone is watching her, so Komi feels immediately drawn to her. But, Himiko is actually pretty… unusual. Komi and her hit it off, in their own way, and soon become friends.

Even though Komi struggles to make friends, she is still seen as some kind of deity in her class. In order to protect her, Tadano manages to get elected as the class president, with Najimi as his vice-president.

Tadano is dense, while Najimi is… Najimi

Tadano is still failing to see just how much he matters to Komi. She even gives him the honor of saving his phone number first but it is actually Najimi who realizes what she is up to. Himiko ends up saving the day, in her own way, but Tadano still only sees Komi as a friend. Her first phone call is also with him – but he somehow misses the point and focuses on her voice.

Najimi continues with their mischievous plans and ideas even in this episode. Setting traps, pushing Tadano towards his demise, and Komi towards new friends are just some of the things Najimi spends their time on.

Another interesting bit of info in this episode – Komi has an older brother, while Tadano has a younger sister. It’ll be interesting to see if the two will get more screen time, or if they’ll just be treated as a minor running gag.
