Made in Abyss Season 2 Gets New Visual, July Premiere Date

Made in Abyss Season 2, titled The Golden City of the Scorching Sun, unveiled a new visual featuring the main trio from the series – Riko, Reg, and Nanachi. The new visual also matches the first, which was revealed in November of the last year, along with a trailer. The anime will premiere this July.

Kinema Citrus is animating the sequel to the highly popular anime series, with the main staff returning. Masayuki Kojimais directing, while Hideyuki Kurata will be in charge of the series composition. Kazuchika Kise and Yuka Kuroda are in charge of character designs, while Kevin Penkin is returning to compose the music. Penkin tweeted about the announcement:

Made in Abyss is based on a manga by Akihito Tsukushi. The manga started serialization in 2012 in Takeshobo’s Web Comic Gamma. It currently has 10 volumes with over 60 chapters. Seven Seas is publishing the manga in English. The anime adaptation of the manga premiered in the Summer of 2017. The season was later condensed into 2 movies in 2019., while a sequel movie titled Made in Abyss Movie: Dawn of the Deep Soul followed in 2020. A short 4-episode anime Made in Abyss: Marulk’s Daily Life also came out in 2020.
