Magic: The Gathering Reveals Anime Trailer for Wilds of Eldraine Featuring Hiroyuki Sawano's Music

Magic: The Gathering is welcoming the Wilds of Eldraine expansion with a new anime-themed trailer that features Yui Ishikawa and Yuichiro Umehara, as well as music by Hiroyuki Sawano and Awich. The voice actor duo voices Rowan and Will Kenrith, a pair of siblings who share somewhat different values.

Studio Pierrot worked on the animation, with Qzil.la and S.o.K as the producers. Wilds of Eldraine expansion cards are already available in the Magic: The Gathering Arena on both PC and mobile – since September 5. The physical release is coming on September 8.

This is not the first time that the Magic: The Gathering franchise ventured into anime-themed promotional materials. In February of 2022, they released an animated trailer for Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty. It was animated by WIT Studio and featured music by Ling Tosite Sigure.

Magic: The Gathering is a tabletop and digital collectible card game created by Richard Garfield, first released in 1993 by Wizards of the Coast. In addition to multiple expansions over the years and merchandise over the years, the card-game-based franchise also has an animated TV series project in the works. Netflix will be streaming the title, focusing on Planeswalkers, Magic’s unique magic-wielding heroes and villains. It is set to premiere later this year.

Wilds of Eldraine will be the card game’s newest expansion and the teaser for it is:
A Wicked Slumber creeps through the land of Eldraine, home plane of Will and Rowan, turning Magic’s beloved fairy tale world into something more…twisted.
