The popular card game Magic: The Gathering has received an animated trailer by WIT Studio, and it features a song by the Japanese band Ling Tosite Sigure. The cinematic was made to commemorate the latest set for the game – Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty, and you can watch it on YouTube:
The trailer was produced by WIT Studio (Ranking of Kings, Vivy: Fluorite Eye’s Song, Vinland Saga) and maxilla (The Promised Neverland OP, Fate/Grand Order – Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia OP). Meanwhile, we know Ling Tosite Sigure as the band behind some anime theme songs, such as “Abnormalize” and “Enigmatic Feeling” from Psycho Pass. TK from the band also performed the iconic “Unravel” from Tokyo Ghoul, as well as the opening for the show’s 2nd season “Katharsis”. The song’s title in the trailer is “Scratch” and it features Koshi Inaba as a guest vocalist.
Besides the animated trailer, WIT Studio also released a commemorative illustration for Magic: The Gathering. It was drawn by Hu Takuma, who was in charge of character design and art direction:
Magic: The Gathering is a tabletop and digital collectible card game created by Richard Garfield, and it was first released in 1993 by Wizards of the Coast. It also has a planned animation project (not related to this trailer), which is set to release in 2022 by Netflix and is yet to release additional details. Deadline reported in August 2021 that Snowball Studios will handle the animation, taking over from the previously announced Bardel Studio.
