Comment on Previous Episode

Hata Azumi, the color designer for of the series, shared a piece of behind the scenes story:

Thank you for watching Miss Kobayashi’s Maidragon Episode 9!!
From the beginning to the end, the episode was fuuuull of Elma, wasn’t it?
About that summer suit she wore at the start [of the episode], the director Ishihara and I had a talk over it and reached an idea to change the mood completely. And then, we had her wear the pink jacket, a kind that she doesn’t usually put on.
I’m glad if it managed to add refreshing taste to the screen.

These two are also dressed in summer outfits in a casual manner.

I’d like you to pay attention to colors and enjoy future episodes!!

Today’s Japanese Word

Natsu (夏)Summer. Japan is in the northern hemisphere, and Natsuyasumi (休み), the summer break starts from late July to late August in elementary, middle, and high school. The season is not only Atsui (暑い) meaning hot, but Mushiatsui (蒸し暑い) meaning humid. When a day goes over 25℃, it’s called Natsubi (夏日), 30℃ for Manatsubi (真夏日), 35℃ for Moushobi (猛暑日). Japanese has words that read Atsui, and some of the frequently used ones are 暑い for hot weather, 熱い for hot liquor or stuff, 厚い for thick things.

Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S is airing this season on Crunchyroll.
