Mob Psycho 100 III revealed a new trailer ahead of the final arc which begins next week with the 9th episode. Studio BONES is animating the sequel to the popular series, which is meant to fully adapt the manga by ONE.
Takahiro Hasui is directing the third season of the anime. Hiroshi Seko is in charge of the series composition, with Yoshimichi Kameda once again doing character designs. Kenji Kawai is composing the music. According to studio Bones president Masahiko Minami, this season does not have any CGI and is fully hand-drawn. The opening theme song is “1” by Mob Choir, while the ending themes are “cobalt” and “exist” (only used in two episodes).
The first season of the Mob Psycho 100 anime, by studio BONES, aired in the Summer of 2016. The second season followed in 2019. The franchise also has a side-story titled Mob Psycho 100 II: The First Spirits and Such Company Trip – A Journey that Mends the Heart and Heals the Soul, as well as a Mob Psycho Mini omake and a recap episode titled Mob Psycho 100 Reigen: The Miraculous Unknown Psychic.
Mob Psycho 100 is based on a manga by ONE, who is also known as the author of One Punch Man. It started serialization in Ura Sunday magazine in 2012. The manga ended in 2017, after 101 chapters (16 volumes). A spin-off series Mob Psycho 100: Reigen was serialized from 2018 to 2019.
Dark Horse licensed the manga for the English market and describes the plot as:
Do you or someone you know need an exorcist who works cheap? Reigen’s your guy! What’s his secret to busting ghosts while keeping prices low? Well, first, he’s a fraud, and second, he pays the guy who’s got the real psychic power—his student assistant Shigeo—less than minimum wage. Shigeo is an awkward but kind boy whose urge to help others and get along with them is bound up with the mental safety locks he’s placed on his own emotions. Reigen knows he needs to exploit Shigeo to stay in business, yet for better or worse he’s also his mentor and counselor. And he also knows whenever the normally repressed kid’s emotions reach level 100, it may unleash more psychic energy than either of them can handle!
