Mushoku Tensei Light Novel Ends With Volume 26, Redundancy Chapters Set To Be Serialized

Rifujin na Magonote’s Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation light novel ended with the 26th volume on Friday. The series also released a special book on the same day, which shows the path the series has walked so far and compiles short stories and separate interviews with the author and the illustrator Shirotaka. Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation was originally serialized as a web novel on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website from November 2012 to April 2015, and Kadokawa picked up the series and published it as a light novel. The bonus side stories known as Dasoku Hen or Redundancy chapters will also be published as a separate release. These side stories focus on the events set before the main story’s epilogue. The author celebrated the novel series’ 10th anniversary on Tuesday.

Rifujin na Magonote’s Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation has been published with art by Shirotaka under KADOKAWA’s MEDIA FACTORY and Frontier Works’ novel label MF Books since 2014. The series released the first compiled volume in January 2014 and the 25th volume in September 2021. The light novel inspired an anime adaptation by StudioBind; the first season was split into two cours with a total of 23 episodes. The first part aired from January to March 2021 and the second part from October to December of the same year. The fourth volume of Blu-ray compiles an unaired episode, which is available on Crunchyroll. The anime adaptation is receiving a second season and the premiere date is set for 2023.

Seven Seas licensed the light novel in English and describes the plot as:
Just when an unemployed thirty-four-year-old otaku reaches a dead end in life and decides that it’s time to turn over a new leaf—he gets run over by a truck and dies! Shockingly, he finds himself reborn into an infant’s body in a strange, new world of swords and magic. His new identity is Rudeus Grayrat, but he still retains the memories of his previous life. Follow Rudeus from infancy to adulthood, as he struggles to redeem himself in a wondrous yet dangerous world..
