My Hero Academia Releases a Himiko Toga x Ochaco Uraraka Friendship Video

New Ochaco x Toga trailers commemorating the release of My Hero Academia Volume 39, which starts shipping in Japan today (November 2, 2023) were posted to the Shonen Jump Official YouTube channel. Their official Twitter/X account issued a spoiler warning for the comments, and we at Anime Corner are issuing one for the second trailer, so be wary if you haven’t caught up yet. A 1-hour “Best Friend BGM” video showcases Toga and Uraraka in an alternate reality, having grown up as best friends from childhood. Scenes of the pair playing in scenic parks as children, to graduating from school are looped, designed to be enjoyed as background music. The second video depicts the struggle between the pair due to their different circumstances, with lines from the manga.

Kohei Horikoshi’s Boku no Hero Academia manga first debuted in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump in July 2014 and has been collected into 39 volumes as of November 2, 2023. The series was translated by the North American licencor of the manga VIZ Media as My Hero Academia. The manga has spawned a successful anime and movie franchise, with the upcoming fourth movie announced with a teaser visual in August 2023. Season 7 was also announced earlier in March, adding Romi Park to the cast.
