On October 8, Given author Natsuki Kizu shared a new illustration on her Twitter for the Cheri+ 10th anniversary exhibition. The illustration serves as the exhibition’s key visual.
Natsuki Kizu states in her Twitter post that the illustration features the cast of Given 10 years in the future. She also mentions the fact that the characters are lined up in the same way as the cover art for her Given Illustrations book, published last year.
Natsuki Kizu’s music/boys love manga Given began serialization in Shinshokan’s Cheri+ magazine in 2013. The series inspired an anime adaptation of the same name, which premiered in 2019 on Fuji TV’s Noitamina programming block. The anime is available to stream on Crunchyroll.
Crunchyroll describes the plot of Given as follows:
Somehow, the guitar that he used to love to play and the basketball games that he found so fun just lost their appeal. That was until Ritsuka Ueonyama met Mafuyu Sato. Ritsuka had started losing his passion for music in his everyday life. but then he hears Mafuyu sing for the first time. The song resonates with his heart and the distance between them begins to change.
The latest addition to the Given franchise is a live-action adaptation of the series, which is also available on Crunchyroll. Given’s anime also will also get an OVA, which will be released in December this year. The OVA, Given: Urugawa no Sonzai (Given: The One on the Flip-Side), will focus on Mafuyu and Ritsuka’s relationship.
