Given OVA Preview Images Revealed

On July 30, the official Twitter account for the Given anime gave us a sneak peek of what to expect in the series’ upcoming original video animation (OVA). You can view the full Twitter post with the preview of Given OVA below.

Judging by the images shared in the Twitter post, we’ll be getting some scenes from the manga that weren’t adapted in the Given movie. These scenes include Mafuyu and Ritsuka’s talks during summer classes, and a scene featuring Mafuyu and Hiiragi at a summer festival.

Other preview images reveal that the new Given OVA will also feature scenes with Haruki and Akihiko.

The OVA takes place during the events of the Given film. Its plot will center around Mafuyu and Ritsuka’s relationship. It is titled Given: Urugawa no Sonzai (Given: The One on the Flip-Side). The DVD featuring the OVA will ship with a special edition of the manga’s seventh volume on December 1, 2021. Pre-orders are available until August 29, 2021.

Furthermore, Comic Natalie reported on July 30 that the OVA will feature a new song performed by the series’ band. The song shares the same name as the OVA itself.

Given‘s anime adaptation premiered in 2019, on Fuji TV’s Noitamina programming block. The music/boys love series is based on Natsuki Kizu’s manga of the same name, serialized in Shinshokan’s Sheri Plus since 2013. The series is available for streaming on Crunchyroll.

Synopsis

Somehow, the guitar that he used to love to play and the basketball games that he found so fun just lost their appeal. That was until Ritsuka Uenoyama met Mafuyu Sato. Ritsuka had started losing his passion for music in his everyday life, but then he hears Mafuyu sing for the first time. The song resonates with his heart and the distance between them begins to change. (Via Crunchyroll website)

The latest addition to the Given franchise is a live-action adaptation of the series, which is currently airing on Crunchyroll.
