One Piece Film Red announced that the film has earned over ¥18 billion (≒$122 million) since its premiere on August 6, 2022 in Japan. The official Twitter account of the series posted a commemorative illustration with Gordon drawn by the manga’s author, Eiichiro Oda.
The newly-released illustration shows Gordon crying out loud because of the milestone. Kenjiro Tsuda, who is known for his roles as Seto Kaiba in Yu-Gi-Oh! and Kento Nanami in Jujutsu Kaisen, voiced the mysterious character who knows the past of Uta. The female character can be seen spotted at the bottom left corner of the illustration:
One Piece Film Red grossed over ¥2.25 billion (≒$15 million) with 1.57 million film audiences in the opening weekend in Japan, which made the biggest opening-weekend numbers when it comes to both the audience and earnings among films of 2022. It’s the best-performing film in One Piece‘s history. Kogyo Tsushinsha reported that the film returned to the top spot for the number of viewers during the weekend of October 29-30 for the first time in two weeks. It also secured the spot last weekend, November 5-6. The film is screened worldwide and hit theaters in the US last week. Box Office Mojo reported that the film grossed $9,475,251 in the opening weekend, November 4-6, in the country.
