The upcoming Raven of the Inner Palace (Kokyu no Karasu) anime revealed the first official trailer, along with a key visual. The anime, animated by BN Pictures, will begin airing on October 1.
Nobunaga Shimazaki and Nobuhiko Okamoto are joining the cast as Onkei and Tankai. The previously announced main cast includes:
Chizuru Miyawaki (Gintama) is directing Raven of the Inner Palace anime. Satomi Oshima (Sataraki Man) is in charge of series composition, while Shinji Takeuchi (Gintama) is doing character designs. Asami Tachibana (Moriarty the Patriot) is composing the music. The anime was initially announced in December of 2021, while the cast was unveiled in April. A teaser trailer was uploaded in the same month.
The anime is based on a novel written by Koko Shirakawa and illustrated by Ayuko. Seven Seas Entertainment licensed it in English during this year’s Anime Expo. The plot is described as:
Deep within the palace lives a mysterious woman known only as the Raven Consort. Some say she’s an old woman, others that she’s young and beautiful. But all are agreed on this: her dark arts have the power to exorcise spirits, lay fatal curses, and find what has been lost—for a price. When the young emperor, Koushou, seeks out the Raven Consort to make use of that magic, what follows will overturn the court…and perhaps even the country.
