Music group SEKAI NO OWARI dropped a new lyric music video for their single, “The Peak” on October 14. The song is currently being used as One Piece‘s 25th opening song. “The Peak” finished 8th in Anime Corner’s Best Opening and Ending Theme Songs of the Summer 2023 Anime Season. The music video was directed by Akito Nakayama, who has previously worked with the popular Japanese musician Ado.
SEKAI NO OWARI was formed in Tokyo, Japan in 2005 and has four members, Fukase, Saori, DJ Love and Nakajin. They have toured internationally twice, released seven albums, and have had their songs featured in One Piece, Mary and The Witch’s Flower, and the live-action film adaptations of Attack on Titan. In 2024, SEKAI NO OWARI will release “Deep Sea Fish”, the theme song for Takashi Miike’s (Onimusha) psychological thriller movie, Lumberjack the Movie.
“The Peak” debuted during the One Piece anime’s Wano Arc. Crunchyroll holds the license and describes the arc as:
Wano Country is under the control of Kurozumi Orochi, Kaido of the Yonko, and his crew the Beasts Pirates. The Straw Hats form an alliance with the Heart Pirates, the Mink Tribe, and the Kozuki Family to liberate the Land of Wano, but when an old foe reappears their mission is made much more difficult.
Luffy, after facing defeat at the hands of Kaido, is locked in Udon Prison where a surprising member of the Worst Generation is also being kept! Meanwhile, Robin gets an opportunity to go undercover and spy on Wano’s Shogun Orochi as the rest of the Straw Hats and their allies begin working toward the coup they plan to stage on the night of the Fire Festival.
Luffy’s journey takes him and his group to the ruins of Oden Castle where Kin’emon tells them about the past and his plans to battle at Onigashima. The Straw Hats search for allies in Wano Country, but Kaido isn’t going to let them operate freely under his watchful gaze.
