The upcoming first part of The Seven Deadly Sins: Grudge of Edinburgh received a trailer and a teaser visual at this year’s Netflix TUDUM. The movie is coming to Netflix this December.
Alfred Imageworks and Marvy Jack are animating the movie, which will be CGI and feature a spin-off story focusing on Tristan. Noriyuki Abe is listed as the chief director, while Bob Shirahata is the director. Rintaro Ikeda is writing the script.
The movie will take place after the original series and before the events of the Four Knights of the Apocalypse manga sequel. The story is an original work and appears to be focused on Tristan who leaves his father’s castle after a mysterious army attacks it. On his journey, he meets fairies and giants who will change his life forever. Meliodas, Elizabeth, Diane, Ban are among those seen in the trailer:
The original Seven Deadly Sins series also has an anime adaptation with 4 seasons and 2 movies. The first 2 seasons and Prisoners of the Sky movie were animated by A-1 Pictures. Studio DEEN took over for seasons 3 and 4, and the latest movie Cursed by Light served as an anime-only sequel. TV anime was a Netflix exclusive worldwide, while the movies had theatrical screenings in Japan. All the seasons and both movies, as well as a special OVA series, are now available on Netflix. An anime adaptation of Four Knights of the Apocalypse was announced earlier this year.
