Shinmai Renkin Reveals Commercial, Release Date, and Additional Cast

A commercial for the upcoming fantasy anime Shinmai Renkin (Shinmai Renkinjutsushi no Tenpo Keiei or Management of Novice Alchemist in English) has been revealed. The anime is set to premiere on October 3.

Mitsuki Saiga will join the cast as Ophelia Millis with Ami Koshimizu voicing Maria. All characters appear in the commercial accompanied by the anime’s opening theme song, “Hajimaru Welcome“, by Aguri Onishi. The previously announced cast includes:

  • Kanon Takao as Sarasa
  • Hina Kino as Lorea
  • Saori Onishi as Iris
  • Nanaka Suwa as Kate

Studio ENGI is animating the series with Ikehara Hiroshi as director. Shigeru Murakoshi will be writing the scripts, Harumi Fuki is composing the music with Nippon Columbia producing the music. Yosuke Ito is illustrating the character designs and serves as the chief animation director. The anime adaptation is based on a light novel written by Mizuho Itsuki and illustrated by Fumi. The novel series was first launched on the Shosetsuka ni Narou website in November 2018. Fantasia Bunko began publishing the volumes in print with illustrations by Fumi in September 2019.

The story follows Sarasa who is an orphan and the only way to success for her is to become an alchemist so she enrolls in Royal Alchemist Training Academy. Her master gifts her a store and sends her off into the countryside to manage it. Sarasa is quite surprised when she realizes the countryside isn’t what she imagined it to be but she decides to try and run the store and make a living.
