Sword Art Online 10th Anniversary Project Trailer Released

The Sword Art Online series revealed a trailer for the 10th-Anniversary event during AnimeJapan 2022. In addition to the scenes from the previous seasons and the movies, the video also includes a sneak peek into the upcoming Sword Art Online: Progressive -Scherzo of the Deep Night- anime film.

Sword Art Online started off as a Japanese light novel series by Reki Kawahara. ASCII Media Works has been serializing it with abec’s illustrations since 2009, and it currently has 26 volumes with more than 26 million copies in circulation. Yen Press is publishing the series in English.

The series received an anime adaptation in 2012. The first season had a total of 25 episodes. In 2013, a movie titled Sword Art Online: Extra Edition premiered in Japan, followed by a season 2 of the series in 2014. The franchise took a short break and then returned in 2017 with an anime film titled Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale.

In 2018, A sequel titled Sword Art Online: Alicization aired, and it had a total of 24 episodes. It was followed by Sword Art Online: Alicization -War of Underworld-. Manabu Ono (Hellsing) directed the Alicization arc of the anime. A-1 Pictures animated all of it.
