Sword Art Online: Progressive Sequel Anime Movie Announced for 2022

Right after the premiere of Sword Art Online: Progressive in Japan, a sequel movie has been announced. It will cover the 5th floor of Aincrad, and will release in 2022. The full title will be Sword Art Online: Progressive – Kuraki Yuuyami no Scherzo.

Sword Art Online: Progressive is a Japanese light novel series by Reki Kawahara, with abec as the illustrator. ASCII Media Works first serialized it in October 2012, and it currently has 8 volumes in circulation. Funimation will screen the Aria of the Starless Night movie together with Aniplex in North America this December. It will also be coming soon to the United Kingdom, Ireland and Latin America.

It’s been just two months since they were trapped in the game of death that is Sword Art Online, and Kirito and Asuna continue their struggle at the vanguard of progress through the game.
