The author of Chainsaw Man, Tatsuki Fujimoto, is involved in the anime’s production, as confirmed by his editor. The editor of the manga, Shihei Lin, posted this on his Twitter, following a series of articles on various websites that claimed that Fujimoto tweeted about not being involved in the production. The tweet was taken out of context: Fujimoto was raving about the premiere and replied to a random person who complimented him on the work and amazing first episode of the anime with “Thanks, I didn’t do anything!”
Lin tweeted saying that “Fujimoto has seen all of Chainsaw Man drafts, plans, scripts and the storyboards. He has been in continuous contact with MAPPA’s animators. I️ appreciate the wonderful enthusiasm of the animation staff throughout the entire process.“
Chainsaw Man anime premiered earlier this month. Two episodes are currently out; studio MAPPA is animating the adaptation of Fujimoto’s manga. Fujimoto often tweets about his opinions on the anime. This is his first work to receive an adaptation. Ryu Nakayama is directing the anime, with Hiroshi Seko as the scriptwriter. Kazutaka Sugiyama is doing character designs, while Kiyotaka Oshiyama is credited for creature designs. Kensuke Ushio is composing the music. The first trailer was revealed in June of last year.
