The Case Study of Vanitas revealed its main PV, along with the ending theme. LMYK is performing the ED, which is titled “0 (zero)”. Previously, the opening, which is performed by Sasanomaly, was revealed. The opening is titled “Sora to Kyo”.
Studio BONES (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood) is producing the anime, which will begin airing on July 2nd, 2021. Tomoyuki Itamura (Monogatari series) is directing, while Deko Akao is doing series composition. In addition, Yoshiyuki Itou is doing character designs, while Yuki Kajiura is composing the music. A special program during Aniplex’s Online Fest 2021 will offer an exclusive look into the behind-the-scenes of The Case Study of Vanitas‘ production.
Hanae Natsuki voices Vanitas, while Kaito Ishikawa voices Noé. Akira Ishida, Ai Kayano, Tarou Kiuchi, and Inori Minase are also starring in the anime.
The Case Study of Vanitas is based on a manga by Jun Mochizuki (also known for Pandora Hearts). Yen Press licensed the manga for the English market and describes the plot as:
Rumors revolving around The Book of Vanitas, a clockwork grimoire of dubious reputation, draw Noé, a young vampire in search of a friend’s salvation, to Paris. What awaits him in the City of Flowers, however, is not long hours treading the pavement or rifling through dusty bookshops in search of the tome. Instead, his quarry comes to him…in the arms of a man claiming to be a vampire doctor! Thrust into a conflict that threatens the peace between humans and vampires, will Noé cast in his lot with the curious and slightly unbalanced Vanitas and his quest to save vampirekind?
