The Insipid Prince’s Furtive Grab for The Throne is a light novel series written by Tanba and illustrated by Yuunagi. It was first published on Shosetsuka ni Naro in February 2019 before Kadokawa acquired it and published it under its Sneaker Bunko imprint in September of that year. A manga adaptation by Amagai has been ongoing in the Young Ace Up online magazine.

Bookwalker is publishing both light novels and manga in English, describing the plot as:
The secret battle fantasy of the strongest prince who hides his claws!
Arnold is a lethargic prince who is ridiculed by the entire empire as an “insipid” runner. But in fact, he is the most powerful prince with a secret identity as Silver, an SS-grade adventurer who manipulates forbidden ancient magic! The story of the strongest prince who plays the role of an incompetent, and his secret struggle for the throne begins!

Yuunagi also released a commemorative illustration for The Insipid Prince anime adaptation:
