Haikyu: Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump Reveals Trailer, February 2024 Release Date

The upcoming Haikyu THE MOVIE: Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump movie revealed a trailer during today’s Haikyu Fest 2023. The release date has been set for February 16, 2024, in Japan. The first of the two movies will be directed by Susumu Mitsunaka, who also worked on the TV anime, with Mariko Ishikawa as the assistant director.

Susumu Mitsunaka will be also writing the screenplay for Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump movie. Takahiro Kishida is in charge of the character designs. Takahiro Chiba is credited as the chief animation director. Ichiro Tatsuta is the art director. while Mayumi Sato is the color designer.

The movie shares the Japanese title with Haikyu!! Gomisuteba no Kessen (The Dumpster Battle), which is the 294th chapter of the manga. It will cover the much-anticipated clash between Karasuno and Nekoma teams. The movies will be a direct sequel to the fourth season and Production I.G will be animating both. In addition to the final movies, Production I.G also animated the TV anime adaptation of the Haikyu (stylized as Haikyu!!) series. The first season aired in 2014, followed by the sequel which started in the Fall of 2015 and finished during the Winter of 2016, after 25 episodes. Season 3, titled Haikyu!! Karasuno High School vs Shiratorizawa Academy had 10 episodes that aired throughout the Fall of 2016. Haikyu!! Riku vs Kuu OVA serves as its sequel. The latest installment of the anime Haikyuu!! To the Top aired in two cours – first in Winter 2020 and second in Fall 2020. In addition to the TV anime, the franchise also spawned multiple recap movies, OVAs, side stories, and an omake.

Haikyu is based on a manga by Haruichi Furudate which was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2012 to 2020. The manga ended after 405 chapters, compiled into 45 volumes. Viz Media licensed it in English and describes the plot as:
