The Tomodachi Game anime series is getting a new live action adaptation, set to premiere on Asahi TV on July 23. The television drama is titled Tomodachi Game R4, and casts members of boy bands Johnny’s Jr. Bishоonen and HiHi Jets.
The announced cast includes:
Takurо Oikawa, Hajime Takezono, and Toshiaki Kamada are directing the new live action series. Takuji Higuchi and Shinya Hokimoto are writing the screenplay, and Yoshinori Nakamura is composing the series’ music. Mikoto Yamaguchi and Yuki Sato are credited for the original work.
Tomodachi Game previously received several live action adaptations, including a four-episode television drama in 2017 and two live action films, Tomodachi Game Gekijo-ban and Tomodachi Game Gekijo-ban Final in the same year.
The anime series premiered on April 5 this year. Studio Okuruto Noboru is in charge of the animation, with Hirofumi Ogura as director. Kenta Ihara is working on the anime as a screenwriter and on the series’ composition. Satomi Miyazaki is in charge of character designs, while Michiru is composing the music. It is currently available for streaming on Crunchyroll, with the finale set to release today on June 21. The story is described as:
High school student Katagiri Yuichi, who values friendship above all else, enjoys a fulfilling life with his close friends Sawagiri Shiho, Mikasa Tenji, Shibe Makoto, and Kokorogi Yutori. However, after a particular incident, they’re dragged into a debt repayment game. The only way to beat the “Tomodachi Game” is to not doubt their friends. Bound together by solid friendships, the game should’ve been easy, but– The hugely popular comic that sold over two million copies is finally becoming an anime!
