Top 10 Anime of the Year – 2020

The results of the 2020 Anime of the Year rankings have arrived! In case you missed it, Anime Corner conducted a poll to decide which anime our fans enjoyed most in 2020, and our rankings are based on the data we have collected. In addition, we would like to point out that we nominated 44 shows based on the data gathered by Anime Corner through internal and external sources last year and fans voted among those.

The results shown in the rankings are based on the results of the selected sample. It shouldn’t affect your decision to watch shows that are placed below the Top 10, as each show has its own distinct style, and everyone’s taste in anime is different. This season was packed with a lot of great shows that even a show below the 20th ranking was personally one of my favorites.

“Kaguya-sama: Love is War? Season 2” took the top on our Anime of the Year 2020 poll, and it’s surely deserved! The fans loved the sequel to the adorable romcom and it’s not surprising that it was first. What may be surprising is that a non-sequel was so close. “Kakushigoto” took 2nd place, and is actually the #1 new anime of the year! Furthermore, out of the top 10, 6 shows are actually non sequels and Oregairu ranked #10. Great Pretender was close behind, but Netflix’s weird schedule likely made it fall short of the top 10.

2020 was heavily affected with the ongoing pandemic and delays, but still managed to give us some amazing shows! Let’s hope this year does the same and more, and Anime Corner has already started weekly polls for the Winter 2021 season.
