Unnamed Memory, a light novel by Kuji Furumiya, is getting an anime adaptation set for release in 2023. Studio ENGI is animating the series. A teaser visual and promotional video have been released as well.
Kazuya Miura will be directing the series, and Deko Akao doing the scriptwriting. Chika Nomi is doing the character designs and Akito Matsuda is doing the music composition. The main cast has been announced as well, namely Yoshiki Nakajima as Oscar and Atsumi Tanezaki as Tinasha.
Unnamed Memory was first published on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website in September 2012 before being acquired by ASCII Media Works. The light novel received illustrations by Chibi and was published under the Dengeki no Shin Bungei imprint. It ran from January 2019 to April 2021 and had a total of six volumes. It received a manga adaptation in ASCII Media Works’ Dengeki Daioh magazine with illustrations by Naoki Koshimizu.
Yen Press has licensed both the light novel and manga in English, describing the plot as
“My wish as champion is for you to descend the tower and be my wife.” Climbing a deadly tower, Oscar seeks the power of its master, the Witch of the Azure Moon. He hopes her incredible magic can break a curse that will kill any woman he takes for a wife. When the prince sees how beautiful Tinasha is, though, he has a better idea-since she’s surely strong enough to survive his curse, she should just marry him instead! Tinasha isn’t keen on the idea, but agrees to live with Oscar in the royal castle for a year while researching the spell placed on the prince. The witch’s pretty face hides several lifetimes of dark secrets, however-secrets that begin resurfacing…
