Violet Evergarden The Movie Sales Exceed $12 Million Dollars In 24 Days

On 12 October Kyoto Animation announced that Violet Evergarden: The Movie anime film sales have exceeded 1.28 billion yen (~$12 million). As a result of selling 890,000 tickets as of 11th of October, the movie ranked 3rd in the weekly ticket sales ranking.

Moreover, thanks to the Violet Evergarden: The Movie sales, viewers will also receive a 35 mm film cut as a bonus starting on October 16th. The movie’s opening date in Japan was September 18.

The movie is a direct sequel to the anime TV series which premiered in 2018. The director Taichi Ishidate said that he didn’t plan on writing a sequel. He also said that he didn’t plan on showing what happened after the anime events. He continued that Violet would live on regardless of what happened to Gilbert, and he had nothing more to say. However, the script written Reiko Yoshida was so believable that he was moved to action.
