Yakitori: Soldiers of Misfortune Anime Comes to Netflix Release on May 18

The Yakitori: Soldiers of Misfortune anime is releasing on Netflix globally this May 18. The anime was first announced during AnimeJapan 2023. Studio Arect is animating the series under the direction of Hideki Anbo. You can check out some of the released screen cuts here:

The cast for the Yakitori anime includes:

• Taito Ban as Akira Ihotsu
• Akari Kito as Amalia Schultz
• Kengo Kawanishi as Erland Martonen
• Tetsu Inada as John Doe
• Hatsune Miku as Kansei AI (Hatsune Mimi)
• Wataru Takagi as Rimel-bukan
• Shunsuke Takeuchi as Tyron Baxter
• Kenjiro Tsuda as Vasya Pupkin
• Asami Seto as Yang Zihan

Atsushi Yamagata is doing the character designs, Mitsuyasu Sakai on the screenplay, and Ishii Ken on the music. Netflix describes the plot as:
With Earth colonized by a superior alien civilization, Akira’s only chance at a better future is to enlist as an expendable Yakitori foot soldier.

The Yakitori: Soldiers of Misfortune anime is based on a light novel series by Carlo Zen (The Saga of Tanya the Evil, Yakusoku no Kuni) and illustrated by so-bin. Hayakawa Publishing has published said light novel under its Hayakawa Bunko JA since August 2017.

This is the latest of upcoming anime titles on Netflix. Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King, The Seven Deadly Sins: Grudge of Edinburgh Part 2, Pluto, Kengan Ashura Part 3, Gamera: Rebirth, and Record of Ragnarok Season 2 Part 2 are also coming later this year.
