YOASOBI Reveals Idol English Version Release Date

The previously teased English version of YOASOBI’s latest single titled “Idol” is set to release on Friday, May 26. The short announcement was made after the song’s music video reached 100 million views on YouTube. A cover image of the upcoming song has also been revealed. The original version was released as a standalone single on April 12 and is currently the #1 song on Spotify Japan.

The song “Idol” by Yoasobi is the opening theme of Oshi no Ko anime which premiered last month. Studio Doga Kobo is animating and the anime was voted the most anticipated series and is one of the biggest anime trends this spring season. HIDIVE describes it as:
Dr. Goro is reborn as the son of the young starlet Ai Hoshino after her delusional stalker murders him. Now, he wants to help his new mother rise to the top, but what can a child do about the dark underbelly of the entertainment industry?

YOASOBI is a musical duo formed in 2019 which composes of Vocaloid producer Ayase and singer-songwriter Ikura. The duo released its first single, “Yoru ni Kareru” in December 2019 and they currently have two extended plays, “E-Side” and “E-Side 2” that are filled with English versions of their songs. The English version of their single “The Blessing” which was the opening theme of Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury was announced last November.
